How can I Upgrade My Charter Communications Phone?

When you buy a new device, you may pay for it in full or commence a new device payment plan. Upgrading your equipment will not make any changes to your current bill cycle. You will not be charged any activation fee for a line in existence.

You can either upgrade your phone in-store or do an online upgrade.

Upgrade in Store

First, visit a Charter Communications Mobile store that has retail inventory. Find a Charter Communications Mobile store near you.

Make sure that the store lists 'add mobile service". If the store reads," when you bring your own device" (BYOD), look for another one since stores that support BYOD do not offer an early upgrade.

Upgrading in a store is recommended if you want to do an early upgrade.

Online Upgrade

To upgrade your device online;

  1. You may shop the device of your choice from the latest devices from the stores' page.
  2. Select a device and then continue then choose to replace existing equipment.
  3. Choose the device you would like to replace, and then press continue.
  4. Finish paying the remaining balance is required before purchasing the new device.
  5. Follow the instructions to complete your purchase and then check out.

Your device protection plan will automatically transfer to the new device, and the old equipment will remain uncovered. If you are not enrolled in any protection plan, you can enroll in one.

When Can I Upgrade My Charter Communications Phone?

To upgrade your Charter Communications Phone, you will need first to be eligible for an upgrade.

You are only required to upgrade your phone if you have paid at least half of the total cost of your device. If you are enrolled in the charter mobile protection plan, there is no existing additional fee required to upgrade your device. For the customers lacking Charter mobile phone plan, a cost of $45 will apply for the upgrade if the device is not paid in full.

You can upgrade your phone and activate it on an existing Spectrum Mobile Service after you have completely paid for the device you have or if you qualify for an early upgrade.

Early Upgrade Eligibility

You can still stand a chance of qualifying for an early upgrade, even with an outstanding balance on your device.

To qualify;

  • You will have to pay half of your Device Payment Plan
  • You will need to have handled back your old device in good working condition (with no screen cracks or scratches and free from physical or liquid damage. The tool should be able to turn on).
  • Your account should be in good standing.

If the above criteria are met, the balance payments on your current device payment plan can be overlooked; thus you can upgrade to a new device. After upgrading, you will need to begin a new device payment plan.
